Terms & Conditions

Your Terms & Conditions can also be found within your Booking Agreement.

    • 1.1 Provisional bookings will be held for 14 days. 

    • 1.2 A booking remains a provisional booking for a further 14 days until the booking form has been signed by the client and countersigned on behalf of  The Kedleston Country House and the client has paid the booking fee. 

    • 1.3 The Kedleston Country House may refuse to accept any booking without giving a reason. 

  • 2.1 The completed and signed booking form should be accompanied by a non-refundable or exchangeable booking fee of:  

    • BOOKING FEE of £1500.00 - due within 14 days of booking 

    • 25% INSTALMENT - due 24 weeks prior to wedding day

    • 25% INSTALMENT - due 12 weeks prior to wedding day

    • FINAL BALANCE - due 6 weeks prior to wedding day       

    2.2 Should any additional charges be added following the final payment four weeks prior, this is to be paid at the time of the amendments.  

    2.3 The client is responsible for checking and settlement of all accounts and any queries on an invoice must be raised with The Kedleston Country House within 7 days of the date of the invoice.  

    2.4 All payments are made in sterling by BACS, cheque, debit card or credit card.  

    2.5 To protect The Kedleston Country House and your own wedding day plans, we ask that you obtain Personal Wedding Insurance with cover of at least £1,000,000.00 (one million pounds) for the duration of the Hire Period and provide evidence of such insurance to Kedleston Country House on request.  

  • 3.1 Final numbers must be confirmed to The Kedleston Country House in writing no later than 4 weeks prior to the event. Appropriate menus (including any special and/or specific dietary requests) and wine and other drinks lists must also be confirmed.  

    3.2 Once the final balance has been made, no refunds or credits will be given for any subsequent decrease in guest numbers.

    3.3 Any subsequent increase in the number of guests or changes to menus (including any special and/or specific dietary requests) or wine and other drinks list must be notified to The Kedleston Country House as soon as possible, but The Kedleston Country House shall be under no obligation to accommodate such changes.  

    3.4 All food must be provided by The Kedleston Country House. No external caterers are allowed.

    3.5 Some items on the Wedding Breakfast Menu will have an additional Supplement on top of the Wedding Breakfast price that you are quoted, your Wedding Coordinator will go through and mention this to you if there is a supplement and it will be clearly stated on the Wedding Breakfast Menu which item has a supplement.

    3.6 Due to our licensing regulations and insurance requirements, we strictly govern the sale and service of alcohol on-site therefore, you can not provide your own alcohol. Alcohol will be confiscated and a fine of £550.00 will be charged to the Client.  

    3.7 All food must be provided by The Kedleston Country House. No external caterers are allowed.

    3.8 While every attempt will be made to comply with the requests of the Client, The Kedleston Country House reserves the right to substitute alternative food or drink if the items ordered cannot be obtained. The Kedleston Country House will, where practical, discuss any changes with the client.  

    3.9 All bedrooms must be booked for the evening of your Wedding Day if you have booked The Kedleston Country House on an exclusive basis.

    3.10 A maximum number of 12 guests are only authorised to stay in the bedrooms. This number includes children. Full names of staying guests must be provided along with room allocation. A fee of £25.00 will be charged for required Z-Bed’s. 

    3.11 If the Client decides to add Evening Street Food, the Client must order the exact amount or above to accommodate every Guest that will be in attendance during your Evening Reception, we are unable to accommodate extra food on the day of. The Kedleston Country House are under no obligation to cater for extra guests on the night that have not been confirmed prior to the Wedding Day. 

  • 4.1 If the Client wishes to cancel the booking, they must notify The Kedleston Country House in writing and the cancellation takes effect only from the date such notification is received by The Kedleston Country House.  

    4.2 In the event of the booking being cancelled the booking fee will be retained by The Kedleston Country House however, a charge will also be made in relation to the total estimated invoice value of the event. The following scale will be used:  

    Notice period  

    • 0 - 8 weeks prior to the confirmed date 100% of the estimated total, loss of booking fee and the remaining venue hire fee 

    • 8 - 20 weeks prior to the confirmed date 50% of the estimated total, loss of booking fee and the remaining venue hire fee 

    • 20 - 30 weeks prior to the confirmed date 25% of the estimated total and loss of booking fee  

    • 30 weeks and over Loss of booking fee  

    The Kedleston Country House may cancel the booking by notice in writing to the client if:  

    The client is 14 days in arrears with any payment.  

    The client is in breach of any of these Terms & Conditions.  

    The Kedleston Country House believes that the event will or is likely to be of an undesirable nature or one that may damage the reputation to The Kedleston Country House. 


  • 5.1 Smoking and vaping is only permitted within the designated outdoor areas. The client must ensure that all those attending the event know of and comply with this restriction or a cleaning charge shall incur. If the fire alarm is set off due to this unauthorized reason, the client will be fined £350.00. 

    5.2 Biodegradable confetti is only permitted in any of the grounds at The Kedleston Country House. Foiled confetti is not allowed. The Client must ensure that all those attending the event know of and comply with this restriction or a cleaning charge shall incur.  

    5.3 Exposed candles are not permitted. Candles must be in a lantern or votive higher than the flame. Candles are not permitted on the staircase.  

    5.4 No Smoke Machines allowed or permitted. If the fire alarm is set off due to this unauthorized reason, the client will be fined £350.00. 

    The Client and guests cannot:  

    • Move furniture or other items.  

    • Affix signs, displays or posters.  

    • Apply any fixtures or fittings to walls, ceiling, lights or furniture.  

    • Use blu-tack, sticky tape, adhesive or any tied fastenings are not permitted.  

    • Alter, move or interfere in any way with the lighting, heating power or other electrical fittings or appliances.  

    5.5 All items related to the event must be removed by the agreed time the morning after the event. Kedleston Country House is not responsible for mislaid or damaged belongings.  

    5.6 PAT Testing certificates and insurance/public liability certificates are required from all Entertainment that requires the use of power from The Kedleston Country House.

    5.7 Events must begin and end at the agreed times. The finish time for every event is 23.30. Guests must leave no later than midnight and must respect our residence and neighbours. Additional unscheduled time will be fined at a rate of £550.00 per hour or part of an hour.  

    5.8 The Client must make sure that any children attending the event are properly always supervised.  

    5.9 The Client is responsible for all damage caused (to the building, its contents, furnishings, fittings, hired items and any equipment belonging to Kedleston Country House) by the client, their guests, contractors or suppliers or others attending the event and shall on demand pay the cost of additional cleaning and of making good such damage or where any property (of The Kedleston Country House) is beyond repair the cost of replacing the property concerned.  

    5.10 The Client shall not bring any dangerous or illegal articles into the grounds of The Kedleston Country House.  

    5.11 The Client is responsible for their guests. Guests shall not bring any dangerous or illegal articles into the grounds of The Kedleston Country House.  

    5.12 If any dangerous or illegal articles are found within the grounds of The Kedleston Country House, The Kedleston Country House has the right to end the event and to involve authorities.  

    5.13 The Client must ensure that noise levels during the event caused by guests going to and from the event, and during the event, are kept to a reasonable level, so as not to cause disturbance to staff and tenants, or to its neighbours.  

    5.14 The Client is responsible for the guests and sub-contractors keeping to the appointed entrance and exit routes. 

    5.15 The Client is responsible for any vehicles and their belongings left overnight.  

    5.16 If three or more glasses are broken, plastic cups will be introduced when purchasing drinks from the bar.  

    5.17 If the Client or guests are verbally abusive towards our Staff, they will be asked to leave the premises. The Kedleston Country House has the right to end the event and to involve authorities.  

    5.18 The Kedleston Country House has the right to refuse the sale of alcohol, if The Kedleston Country House believes anyone appears to be or are intoxicated, and it will be necessary for The Kedleston Country House to prevent anyone else from purchasing alcohol for the person who is or appears to be intoxicated by alcohol. 

  • 6.1 The Kedleston Country House cannot guarantee that the Fixture and Fittings from the time of booking will be in place or available at the time of the event.  

    6.2 Due to the nature of period properties, it is possible that conservation works may be in progress onThe Kedleston Country House or other areas of the property, and this may result in the presence of scaffold, other building works or persons undertaking the conservation works at the time of the event. The Kedleston Country House shall use its best endeavours and minimise any disruption caused by such works. The Client accepts this position and shall not make any claim against The Kedleston Country House for any disruption that may be caused because of conservation works - Unexpected and unplanned emergency work or scheduled work. 

    6.3 The Kedleston Country House, its employees and agents shall not be liable for any damage, loss, delay, or expense incurred by the client, their employees, agents, contractors or guests or any other person attending the event, nor the death of or personal injury to any person resulting from negligence of The Kedleston Country House, its employees, or agents.  

    6.4 The Client will indemnify The Kedleston Country House against all costs and damages caused by the client or any guests or other persons attending the event whether caused to any part of the building or any of the fixtures, fittings, and content of it.  

    6.5 All losses and expenses suffered by The Kedleston Country House arising from the behaviour or conduct of the client, their guests, employees, contractors, agents or other persons preparing for or attending the event.
